If you would like your girl to do a Girls’ Self Defence Project course, we recommend you discuss this with your girl’s school. Her class teacher, the guidance counsellor, or the school principal should be able to help.
The school can apply for a fully funded Project course for years 3 - 4, 7 - 8 and 10-11-12 girls. Alternatively the school can pay for a self defence course for girls of any age.
If you would like to discuss anything with the Project Administrator, you can
email her.
The following letter came from a parent after her daughter attended a Girls’ Self Defence Project course:
“I was very impressed to have spent the day today as a parent observing a Girls’ Self Defence class in action. This class was the second day of a two day session taken by (name), a Girls’ Self Defence Project educator. I felt that the information was factual, relevant and presented in a positive and empowering way. In my opinion the educator was a very positive assertive woman who was very skilled at getting her message across to the children. I am very glad that my daughter was able to participate and I am sure the every one of the girls present has gone away from this course with some life skills that will be of benefit to them at some stage of their lives. I hope that this project is able to continue for a very long time as it is certainly very valuable and worthwhile".
